GODDEN JOINS TAMWORTH ON LOAN

20 February 2014

United striker Matt Godden has joined Skrill Premier League side Tamworth on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 22-year-old striker was recalled from his loan spell at Dartford back in December as cover for the Iron first team.

He made several substitute appearances for United during the home match against Morecambe and the Boxing Day trip to Bury.

It was during the latter of the two appearances that Godden pulled up with an ankle injury – shortly after replacing Deon Burton.

This ankle injury has kept him on the sidelines until now, but with United’s front line doing exceptionally well Godden has opted for another loan move in order to get his match fitness up.

Godden will remain with the Lambs, who are a full time club, for the next month – however his training will be split between them and the Iron.

The United striker is expected to make his debut for Tamworth on Saturday when they host Welling United while they also play Chester on the same evening United host Bristol Rovers.

During his loan spell with Dartford earlier this season Godden scored five goals in 14 appearances.

His first goal for the Darts came in a 1-1 stalemate with Salisbury while he also scored a hat-trick during their 4-3 win over Hyde.

Godden’s final goal during his spell in Kent came against Macclesfield. He scored the opener, but his Iron team mate Connor Jennings scored twice in as many minutes to give the Silk men the win.
