GETTING TO OLDHAM ATHLETIC...

9 October 2015

The Iron are back on the road and have a trip to Greater Manchester as they face Oldham Athletic in Saturday's League One encounter.

SportsDirect.com Park
Known by many fans as Boundary Park, Oldham’s ground has been recently renamed to the SportsDirect.com Park due to a five year sponsorship deal with the company.

After a long wait work is finally underway to add a fourth stand to the stadium, with one side of the ground remaining unused since it’s demolition in 2008.

The ground was opened in 1904, but has been redeveloped over the years to make it an all-seater stadium.

It currently has a capacity of 10,638, with a further 2,500 seats available on completion of the building of a fourth stand.

At either end there is the Rochdale Road End and the Chadderton Road Stand, both are single-tiered with half of the Rochdale Road stand holding away fans.

The last stand is the two-tiered Main Stand, which is all-seated apart from a small section of terracing which is not used by supporters.

The away section has enough room to house 1,600 fans, with a large gap separating the home and away fans that share the stand.

Views of the action are quite good with no obstructions that can be found in other areas of the stadium.

The official matchday programme Latics is priced at £3.

Getting there
The trip is around 80 miles long and should take around an hour and a half, but take caution as road works on the M62 could cause delays. Make sure to fill up with fuel before setting off, with £20 enough to cover the journey.

When leaving Glanford Park take the first exit at roundabout, then at the next roundabout follow the M181 heading for Humber Bridge/Doncaster/M180.

Keep right at the fork, following signs for Doncaster/M180 before merging onto the M180.

Follow the road for around 12 miles and then take the exit onto the M18 towards M62/Goole/Hull/Leeds, continuing for around 6 miles until reaching the M62.

After following the road for 55 miles, exit at junction 20 onto the A627 (M) signposted Rochdale and Oldham.

About half a mile later take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A627 towards Oldham, before taking the A627/A663 exit toward Oldham/Royton/Shaw after 2 miles.

After a mile, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Chadderton Way/A627, then take a slight left onto Westhulme Way.

At this point Boundary Park should be right in front of you.

Where to park
The club have a car pack available priced at £5 per car, £10 per minibus and £15 for coaches. This is located behind the stand that is currently being rebuilt and supporters should turn into Hilbre Avenue to access it. There is also alternative parking available in the town centre.
