Iron manager Russ Wilcox has backed fit-again striker Deon Burton to repeat his Morecambe heroics on Good Friday
However, he will be happy whoever takes up the mantle as his side close in on promotion.
With just four games of the regular campaign now remaining, United currently sit seven points clear of fourth-placed Fleetwood Town as they look to secure a return to League One at the first time of asking.
Their promotion bid has been aided by the return of 37-year-old Burton as a late substitute in each of the last two games, after the Reading-born striker missed the best part of three months with a calf injury sustained in the dramatic 3-3 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge in January.
The veteran forward may well now be involved in Lancashire after netting a brace in the reverse fixture against the Shrimps back in December, and Wilcox told The Iron Player: “I hope [Burton can contribute], but I don’t mind who it is, as long as we pick up the three points.
“It’s not about individuals, it’s about the group. We’ve just got to get over the line now. The pressure is on other teams now to perform and win, as Fleetwood and Burton Albion have to win three out of four.
“If they win two and draw one then our goal difference is really strong, so the pressure’s on them really.”
