DUO VISIT LEYS FARM JUNIOR SCHOOL

11 December 2014

In the build up to the Christmas period, two Iron players took time out of their day to visit a local school.

Terry Hawkridge and Curtis Bateson, the latter of whom is on loan at Gainsborough Trintiy, both gave up some of their afternoon by visiting Scunthorpe school Leys Farm Junior School.

Comminuty Trust Leader and also Chief Scout Lee Turnbull explained; “It was great to see Terry Hawkridge and Curtis Bateson at Leys Farm School in this last week.

“It’s important that the players buy into what we are trying to achieve in the local community and making a footprint in the local community.

"It’s always really exciting for the school children to see the footballers and it encourages the local community to support their local club which is something we always aim to achieve at Scunthorpe United.

“The opportunity for kids to come and see live football is often their first experience of it and it’s great that the players can also support their community’s schemes by giving up their time, signing a few autographs and answering some questions at local schools."

He added: “On behalf of the Community Trust, we’d like to thank the continued support of the players and on this occasion both Terry and Curtis for their time.”
