DELIGHTED...

26 January 2015

Transition can be so difficult, in many ways and not more so than at Scunthorpe United over the coming years.

We have been through quite a few twists and turns and there are probably more to come, but I would like all of you to embrace the journey we are on and with the Management and players we have at the moment, just enhance that.

As we move towards the new make up of the team some players will leave and some will go on long term loans. I want to take this opportunity to thank those who move on and wish them all the best for the future and the ones who don't, will end up fighting for a place in the team or getting back to full fitness to compete for a new contract.

This is always a difficult time for us, as changes are made and this final week of the transfer window can be very hectic as players realise they need to move to get football or to improve themselves. We as a club have completed the majority of our signings and are delighted with the quality of the footballers we have brought in and Mark and his Management team have done this wisely and sensibly.

We will undoubtedly continue to be linked with various players and I am pleased that is the case, it means we are taken seriously in our quest to move up the table, improve our quality of football on the pitch and to entertain the fans. I must however distance ourselves from the rumours re Kevin Van Veen, as this seems to be a ploy to raise his value.

Kevin is a quality player we looked at last year and Mark went to see him play after interest was raised a few months ago. He is a good player but we did not and have not made an offer for him and have moved on to other targets, as you have seen.

Having secured the services of Liam, Ozzy, Jordan, Jacob and Tom, along with Luke the new keeper, we have some exciting additions to the squad, making us competitive and hopefully spurring on the remainder of the players, to perform to their best.

Sadly, both of our keepers were injured in the last match and we wish both Sam and James quick recoveries, this has however opened the door for Luke and I am sure he will grasp this with both hands!!

We are organising an evening with Mark and myself soon along with a more in depth look at our planning application over the coming weeks, as we move to the determination date at the end of April.

Exciting times ahead!

Up the Iron,

Peter Swann
Chairman
