DEADMAN HANDED BANTAMS CLASH

21 April 2015

Darren Deadman will be in charge of the Iron’s clash with Bradford City on Tuesday.

The Cambridgeshire referee has taken charge of 31 matches this term, most recently ten days ago in the Sky Bet Championship. That was in Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, where the Terriers’ Oscar Gobern was the only player to be booked.

Deadman has brandished 111 yellow cards in total this campaign, showing ten reds.

He was in charge of a match at Glanford Park in February, when United lost to Oldham Athletic. No players were booked as the Claret and Blue were beaten 1-0.

He went on a run of showing a red card in four consecutive games, but since the turn of the year, he has only sent off a player on three occasions.

The last one came exactly one month ago, as Charlton Athletic beat Reading at the Valley. The score was 3-2 and he sent off the Royals’ Daniel Williams five minutes from time as he was shown his second yellow.

Overall last term, the Peterborough-based official oversaw 34 matches, dishing out 120 yellows and nine reds.

Deadman has officiated in the Football League since he was promoted from the Conference in 2005, refereeing in all three FL divisions since, as well as appearing as a fourth official in Premier League fixtures.

He has refereed across all three Sky Bet Football League tiers this term, as well as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and the Capital One Cup.

Deadman will be assisted this evening by Paul Cook and Karl Evans, his fourth official will be Michael Denton.
