BRINDLEY WILL BRING QUALITY

26 November 2014

Following the completion of a loan for full back Richard Brindley, assistant manager Ned Kelly gave his reaction to the latest body through the door.

Brindley, 21, arrived at Glanford Park on loan from Rotherham United in a deal which will keep him at the club until January, with Kelly underlining the quality he will bring to the squad.

“We need numbers in the squad,” he stated to The Iron Player.

“We’re still actively looking for other players and Brinds will bring us a little bit more quality, which is what we need. We know he’s a good player, with plenty of pace and we’re trying to add quality to the squad and he will bring that.”

He added: “He’s a player we’ve known of and the gaffer has got very good contacts in many clubs. We know quite a bit about him.”

His arrival comes as Eddie Nolan continues to recover from a recurrence of an injury which had kept him out for a couple of months until he returned for the FA Cup tie with Forest Green Rovers. A recurrence of his problem lead to Terry Hawkridge deputising at full back at the weekend.

“It’s numbers that we need and Eddie is recovering still,” he continued.

“We’ve got a bit of a list of match related injuries, not just while we’ve been here but before our time with Niall (Canavan) and Mirf (David Mirfin) and the likes, so Eddie is working away and we’re hoping he comes back as soon as possible.”

He added: “Terry did very well. Both full backs did well. Marcus and Terry put up a really good performance. Terry is up for the squad then isn’t he, it’s for other people to try and take it off him.”
