ALEXANDER CONFIRMS NESS TRAINING RETURN

28 April 2016

Iron manager Graham Alexander has confirmed midfielder Jamie Ness has returned to training ahead of Saturday's visit of Port Vale.

While the United boss is hoping he suffers no reactions, the 25-year-old, along with fellow midfielder Sean McAllister, could both be a part of the Iron's squad at the weekend.

"Jamie trained on Thursday for the first time," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"We will just assess his recovery for tomorrow and there are a couple of other boys pushing for starts which gives us a couple of decisions to make, which is good.

"There are two or three players really knocking on the door to get back in the team and we have the players in a good mindset.

"We have been down to the bare bones but we've got a healthier squad going into this weekend with a couple of players comig back into the fold and we're looking forward to picking that team tomorrow.

"Sean McAllister is training as well, so he falls into contention."

Doncaster loanee Gary McSheffrey returns to the club after suffering injury after providing his latest assist in Rovers' home victory over Coventry City. He was replaced after 28 minutes following seven appearances for the Yorkshire outfit.

"I think Gary is going to be injured into the summer now," he stated.

"We've only got a couple of games left now of the regular season and he's done something to his knee, so he's likely to be out for the remainder of the season."
