WE'VE TRAINED RIGHT AND RECOVERED RIGHT

24 February 2017

Scotsman Murray Wallace believes it’s vital the Iron carry on where they left off in Saturday’s away encounter with Bristol Rovers.

Wallace says resolute defensive performances in the recent clashes with Walsall and Sheffield United should give the whole squad a huge lift going to the Memorial Stadium.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD ahead of the match, Wallace said: “They’ve got really good home form, so it’ll be another tough game. However, just like any game away from home in this league, it’s sure to be tough.

“It’s important that we don’t concede, and then hopefully build from that.

“That’s (defensive displays) something we’ve looked at. It’s been a slight problem that we’ve been conceding a few too many goals, so it’s nice to be shutting them out.”

The 24-year-old is optimistic about he and his team-mates’ chances against the Pirates, and added the extra preparation time afforded will act as a significant benefit heading into the match.

He highlighted: “We’ve had another full week to prepare for this one after the Sheffield United game.

“Going into it we’ve trained right, and we’ve recovered well.”

Wallace is keen to kick on from the well deserved point taken in last Saturday’s fixture with Sheffield United.

The former Huddersfield Town man says the signs moving forward are positive, as the season enters the preverbal home stretch.

“Given the way the game went and going down to ten men, to get a draw was a good result,” declared Wallace.

“It’s another game unbeaten (after Walsall), so it’s important that we build on that now.

“We haven’t perhaps had the best results of late, but we’re trying to get back to being at least unbeaten, which we’ve done in the past couple of games.”
