U18 SIDE WIN AT DRONFIELD

30 July 2016

The Iron's U18 side won 2-1 in a hard working team performance at Dronfield on Saturday lunchtime.

An excellent throughball from Lewis McMichael found striker Jack Dyche in behind the opposition back four on 53 minutes where an excellent first touch and finish saw Dyche open the scoring.

Dronfield levelled after 69 minutes when United allowed a corner to bounce in their box and the home team swept the ball home.

The Iron created plenty of chances but again failed to capitalise until McMichael drove forward on 72 minutes before firing hard and low into the far corner.

Academy manager Tony Daws said: "Our second half performance was much better in what was a good physically testing game today.

"It was a very different game to the ones against Barnsley and Walsall and the boys will have learnt a lot from it."
