The Iron's U18 side won 3-1 away at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday morning.
The hosts gave United a warning in the ninth minute at Cantley Park, when they hit the post with an effort from distance.
Scunthorpe responded and James Dean Atkinson did well to find Harvey Ablett in the 18-yard box, but the first year striker couldn't keep his effort down.
The visitors responded well and levelled only six minutes later.
Iron captain Lewis Butroid drove into the home side's penalty area, finding James Dean Atkinson, who returned the ball for Butroid to fire home as the teams went in level at the interval.
Scunthorpe started the second half in the ascendancy and an excellent early cross from Fortunate Sithole picked out Dean Atkinson, who bulleted his header into the top corner. However, the goal was ruled out for offside, although it was a very close call.
United created another good chance from a Lewis McMichael throw on 54 minutes but the ball drifted through for a goal kick as the away side tried to turn up the pressure.
We deservedly went in front on 55 minutes when the team worked hard to close down and win the ball back. Dean Atkinson's effort rebounded to George Hornshaw, who fired the Iron into the lead.
Scunthorpe's youngsters were on the front foot and made it three on 58 minutes as they started to dominate the game.
It was a well-flighted free-kick that Butroid attacked before glancing his header beyond the Rovers shotstopper to put his side into a strong position.
Both teams made changes to personnel in the later stages of the game, which finished victorious for United.
Academy manager Tony Daws: "Similar to last week really, we didn't really get started until the second half, when to be honest after half-time I thought our lads' work ethic and play both in and out of possession was excellent and somewhere near what is expected.
"Well done to all the lads today."
