The Iron's U18 side drew 2-2 against Walsall at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Shropshire on Saturday lunchtime.
After a three-hour journey on the morning, it was first year midfielder George Hornshaw who scored his third goal in four pre-season games.Fellow first year David Allasan also netted to open his account for the Iron.
Academy Manager Tony Daws said: "It was an excellent all-round, hard working team performance from the lads today.
"As well as scoring twice, we hit the post and the crossbar and created a lot of chances that just needed sticking away.
"Lots of good play and positives for us to take forward. Well done to the lads."
