Thank you

29 April 2017

I would like to say a huge thank you for the continued support of all the fans this season as we come to our final game, against Coventry on Sunday.

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I am delighted with the players and management response to our position in the New Year. I think it showed the character and quality this team have and will put us in a good position going into the play offs.

The job however is not done yet and we all need to remain positive and excited about the coming weeks, and the opportunity we now have.

It will be mixed emotions when our previous manager Mark Robins returns to GP and I hope that, although he didn't reach the heights that we all wanted, he is still remembered as the manager who steered us to safety, kept us in League One and took us to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

The money from the cup run bought us a couple of players, including Murray Wallace, who we all can agree has proved to be an outstanding member of this exciting team we now have.

The manager merry-go-round is all too difficult to stop at times, but what I will say is he showed dignity and professionalism at all times whilst at Scunthorpe and he will be the first to admit the football at times was not good enough.

All clubs have periods of uncertainty and difficulties, and I have to take my hat off to Mark for his efforts at Coventry. If if he had been in earlier, he would have almost certainly led them to safety. It is sad to see a club go down any route, but relegation is not the end of anything, it should be treated as the beginning of a new chapter and I wish Mark and all at Coventry a more stable and successful future.

So, Sunday is our celebration and an opportunity to say a big thank you to Graham, his management team and the players, but we want to win the match and finish as high up the table as possible because it is not us who are worrying about who we get in the play offs, it is the other teams who are worrying about Scunthorpe United at this stage.

I would like to personally thank my family for their continued support and all the management and staff behind the scenes at the football club - you have been superb, keep it going!

To you the fans, please enjoy and by all means have some banter with the Coventry fans and Mark, but this is about us and our season, first and foremost, so let's have some fun!!
