Saturday sees the Iron return to Glanford Park for the first time since April, when they take on recently promoted Hull City.
It’s Graham Alexander’s side’s first pre-season match back on home soil, following their trip to Austria last week. Both Jamie Ness and Paddy Madden will miss out for the Iron after sustaining knocks in the lead up to the game.
Alexander felt Ness could have been risked, but took the decision to omit him from the open training session, and subsequently the matchday squad on a precautionary basis.
Madden picked up his knock on Thursday and, because of this, the Iron boss felt it was necessary to assess the Irishman further, before concluding when to bring him back into the first team fold.
New addition Sam Mantom (knee) is another who will miss out, with Alexander stating he’s very hopeful that he’ll have him back in the squad by the start of the new season.
The last time United met the Tigers it was one to be quickly etched from the memory, as the visitors ran out comfortable 5-1 victors.
The Iron trailed by two goals until Joe Garner halved the deficit ten minutes after the break, before two more strikes from Matty Fryatt (who’d already found the net once in the first half), and one from Aaron McLean completed the scoring - on an afternoon to forget for the hosts.

A dynamic box-to-box midfielder, Mohammed Diame certainly has it all. After arriving in England from Rayo Vallecano, the Senegalese lit up the Premier League with impressive display after impressive display during his three year spell with Wigan Athletic.
The fine performances continued when he joined West Ham United in 2012, and they were performances which attracted a number of suitors who were vying for his signature - none less than Arsenal.
In 2014 he joined Steve Bruce at Hull City, and made an instant impact, scoring on his debut against, of all clubs West Ham. Diame has continued to be a mainstay in the Tigers starting eleven, and even fired them back to the Premier League in 2016, scoring the winning goal in the playoff final against Sheffield Wednesday.
