POINT KEEPS US TICKING ALONG

23 September 2016

Speaking prior to the game against Sheffield United, winger Josh Morris stated the squad will move on from the draw against Charlton Athletic and look to get back to winning ways.

On the other hand though, Morris does feel the point taken from the clash with the Addicks was a good one, and one which sets the Iron up well going forward.

Morris told The Iron PlayerHD: “We obviously had a tough game on Tuesday, but in the end it probably was a good result and we’ll definitely take a point to keep the momentum going.

“We’re now just looking forward to Saturday, and It’ll be nice to be back out on that pitch and hopefully we can get a positive result.

“I think it’ll maybe be a different game. They (Charlton) came to frustrate us the other night, and I think they achieved that with how they shut the space off in midfield for us. It was a frustrating game to be involved in. Now we’ve got Saturday to come, and they’ll be a different test for us, so it’s one we’re thoroughly looking forward too.”

Combating tricky opponents is something Morris thinks United will have to do on a more regular basis, because of the free-scoring nature in which the team have started the season.

“That shows where we’ve come, and the respect sides are showing us. It’s up to us though to find other ways to penetrate and get in - which I think we’ll do,” he insisted.

“Obviously it was frustrating the other night, but it’s a point better off than we were at this stage last week. It’s just a stepping stone really, and we’ve just got to keep going.”

He also stated the whole squad’s feet are firmly on the ground, and said there’s absolutely no reason for anyone to be getting ahead of themselves at this early stage in the campaign.

“There’s definitely not (anyone getting carried away). We’re only eight games into the season, and you can’t start thinking about going up already,” he continued.

“We set out what we wanted to achieve at the start of the season, and pre-season. We’ve had a great start but, like I’ve said, it’s a start - you don’t win the title in September.  It’s up to us to continue our form, and hopefully press on.”
