PLAYING WITH A LOT OF CONFIDENCE

28 October 2016

Dutchman Kevin van Veen feels Swindon Town are sure to provide a tough test on Saturday but, at the same time, stated it’s one the Iron are ready for.

The striker praised the Robins’ playing style, whilst also insisting that United will be looking for no less than three points.

Van Veen told The Iron PlayerHD: “I think they like to play out from the back, they’re a good footballing team.

“I feel we’ve got enough in our squad to win though, and I hope we can show that against Swindon on Saturday.”

Van Veen revealed spirits are high in the Scunthorpe dressing room currently, especially after a fine away victory against Chesterfield last Saturday.

The 25-year-old also added that he was pleased to see the Iron respond to a disappointing result against Oldham Athletic, and get back on the winning trail once more.

“It’s very good at the moment (the mood). We all have a lot of confidence, and it was good to bounce back with a 3-0 win over Chesterfield," he said.

“In the Oldham game we didn’t really show what we’re capable of, and we didn’t play to our full potential.

“To bounce back that was very good, and we played some very good attacking football which was attacking.

"They (Chesterfield) didn’t have that many shots, which meant the defending was good as well.”

The Dutchman was one of three goalscorers at the Proact Stadium, as he fired in the second of the Iron’s trio of goals.

To be back on the scoresheet delighted the forward, but he now wants to kick on and add more strikes to his tally.

“The gaffer told me I was starting again after missing out due to suspension. It was good to come back and I think I played a good game. To get an assist and a goal made me very happy after the match,” he explained.

“I always have confidence, and I want to show how good I am. I think I’m good enough, and I can’t wait for Saturday.”
