MORRIS AND BUTROID NOMINATED FOR EFL AWARDS

27 March 2017

Iron attacking midfielder Josh Morris and academy graduate Lewis Butroid have both been nominated for EFL Awards for the 2016-17 campaign.

Morris, who has a total of 30 league goal contributions for Scunthorpe so far this season (19 goals and 11 assists), is among three players nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Season. He will battle it out with Sheffield United duo Billy Sharp and John Fleck.

The 25-year-old was named Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for both August and September - and was also nominated again in January - making him an obvious choice for the judging panel.

Meanwhile Butroid, who signed his first professional contract with the club earlier in the campaign, is among three nominees for the LFE Apprentice of the Year for League One.

Butroid made his professional debut with an exceptional performance in United's 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough U21's in the Checkatrade Trophy and has captained his academy side all through the campaign.

The 18-year-old full-back will battle it out with Matthew Gillam (Rochdale) and Callum Cockerill-Mollett (Walsall) for the accolade.

The judging will be made by panels of leading experts from the football and media industry, with the annual awards taking place in London on Sunday, April 9th. For the full details visit www.eflawards2017.co.uk.
