MATCHDAY ATMOSPHERE SURVEY FEEDBACK

22 March 2017

We recently invited supporters to take part in a survey about the matchday atmosphere at Glanford Park and we are pleased to present some of the key findings.

A common theme in the individual responses related to opening the south end of the Clugston Stand for home supporters which is also used an overspill section for away supporters. In light of the next two home fixtures being against Bradford and Bolton who have requested their full allocation of tickets, it is unlikely this area will be available for home supporters. However the club are considering the implications and feasibility for the final two home games and will communicate once a decisions has been made.

Just over half of the respondents suggested the Britcon should be promoted as a singing section while a third suggested the Clugston Stand, but mainly in reference to the south end, should the club re-open for home fans. The majority were in favour of drums being allowed but not as many are in favour of further musical instruments and as a result of this, we are pleased to confirm that drums will now be allowed in the Britcon Stand subject to approval from club officials. Anyone interested in bringing a drum into the stadium and becoming a regular performer during games are invited to email feedback@scunthorpe-united.co.uk for further details.

A common response regarding supporter led initiatives was fans adding more colour to proceedings with flags and banners on the terrace. The club would encourage the addition of flags and banners in this section subject to the usual considerations regarding spectator safety, fire regulations and supporter site lines during play.

Clap banners were suggested by a number of respondents and the club had already agreed a partnership with local company HETA who will be sponsoring a bulk purchase in time for the fixture against Bradford City.

Having a club anthem played before kick-off, similar to Liverpool and Sheffield United was suggested on a number of occasions. We would invite further suggestions and discussion from supporters on this matter over the coming months and will re-visit ahead of the 2017-18 season.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the supporters that took part in the survey and if you have any further suggestions at any point throughout the year then you can use the feedback@scunthorpe-united.co.uk email address.
