JOSH WILL BRING QUALITY TO THE SIDE

15 June 2016

Iron boss Graham Alexander is delighted to have completed his first summer signing, in the shape of midfielder Josh Morris.

The 24-year-old joins to reunite with his former manager following two loan spells at Fleetwood Town, the second of which was season-long from Blackburn Rovers.

The United manager reacted to his first piece of business in charge of the club, stating the opportunity was a "no-brainer".

"We were looking for quality that can improve the squad and Josh certainly brings that," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"He's a player I know really well and I had him for roughly 18 months at Fleetwood where he never missed a day's training. He brought great energy to the side, scored goals and played in a couple of different positions for me.

"It was a no-brainer and we approached Bradford City at the end of last season about his availability, but obviously with their change in managership and so forth over the last few weeks, we've been able to get Josh on board."

Following a strong end to the last campaign, which included six straight victories, Alexander reiterated the need for players who would fit in the current crop of players and make the team stronger, something he believes his first acquisition will fulfill.

"We're really pleased because I think he will bring a lot to the team and I think the supporters will be really pleased with how he performs," he added.

"I saw him play left-back for Blackburn at the top level, he's played left-midfield. He played left of a diamond and in a number ten role for me as well as a central midfielder. He's a versatile player.

"He's just a good footballer, with great energy and he will work for the team. He's a great addition for us.

"We worked really hard to get him on board and we'd like to thank Bradford City for their co-operation with it. What we will see is a player whose career has probably been stalled for a year, but he's desperate to show his qualities that he's shown previous to that.

"We know we've got a motivated player coming in."
