United went 1-0 up on 27 minutes, as a well worked corner was converted home at the far post by Leslie Sackey.Two minutes later, George Barmby turned a shot low into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.
On 44 minutes, Nate Sithole was brought down as he burst into the Lincoln penalty area and James Dean-Atkinson slotted home the spot-kick to put his side 3-0 up at half-time.
City pulled a goal back on 60 minutes from a corner but Scunthorpe went on to record an excellent performance and result.
