Remembering those who have passed away over the last 12 months.
As we come to the last home game of the regular season on Sunday, we will once again remember those with Scunthorpe United connections - be it players, supporters, staff or others - who have sadly passed away over the last 12 months.
We've welcomed you to submit your requests to be included for this weekend's matchday programme and will also invite all supporters in attendance to take part in a minute's applause ahead of kick-off, with the names being read out over the PA system over the course of the minute.
The club was saddened, in early January, to learn of the passing of Iron Vice President Graham Taylor OBE at the age of 72.
Graham grew up in Scunthorpe and regarded it as his hometown, meeting his wife Rita from Winteringham. During his playing career, he made almost 340 career appearances between 1962 and 1972. Moving into coaching and management, he won the Fourth Division title while in charge of Lincoln City in 1976, later taking up the reigns at Watford. He would take the Hornets from the Fourth Division to the First Division in the space of five years.
He led Aston Villa to promotion in 1988 and a second-place finish in the First Divsion in 1989-90. He would then manage the England national team in 1990 for three years and would be appointed Vice President of the Iron in 2003.
Former player John "Merfyn" Jones sadly passed away in October, aged 85.
Born in Bangor, the winger signed from Liverpool in August 1953 and would remain at the club for six years, before departing for Crewe Alexandra.
Jones' most memorable moment while with the club "would be the rain of goals against Pompey in the FA Cup fifth round, while the proudest would be being picked for my junior international cap against Scotland." Jones would score a total of three goals against Portsmouth in the FA Cup in 1953-54.
> United were saddened to learn of the death of supporter Curtis Withers hours before the closing of the 2015-16 season away at Sheffield United - a game he was due to attend. He was a proud season ticket holder and was excited for what the future held for Scunthorpe United. He will be remembered during the minute's applause on Sunday to celebrate his life and to remember his passion for Scunthorpe United.
> Martin Lings is sadly missed by all those who stood with him in the North Stand - an avid lifetime supporter of the football club who sadly passed away in August, aged 71.
> After a two-year battle with cancer, Christine Cunningham passed away at home peacefully, aged 69.
> Jonny Johnson died aged 93 in November after 75 years supporting the club, both home and away. He's sadly missed by his friends in the SPB Stand.
> Remembering Robert (Bob) James Sargent, 91, who sadly passed away in November and Violet May Sargent, 92, who sadly passed away in March. They were both born near Newmarket but moved to Scunthorpe in 1955, living initially near the Old Show Ground before moving to Riddings Estate where they lived for the rest of their lives. They were season ticket holders and regulars for many years before then.
> Fred Bristow supported the Iron for over 50 years, sadly passing away at the age of 87.
> Executive season ticket holder and lifelong supporter Robin Sumpter OBE, sadly passed away at the age of 85.
> Remembering my brother Geoff Holland, aged 70, from Brigg.
> Tony Lings sadly died in January and was a lifelong fan. His ashes were kindly buried by Graham Colby under the edge of the pitch in April.
> Alwyn Dawson, aged 77. Loving father, grandad, brother and friend to many. He was a lifelong Scunthorpe United fan and season ticket holder and would be proud of the Iron's performance this season. Fingers crossed we give him a great day out at Wembley.
> Ebony Smith, aged seven, from Brigg sadly lost her battle with cancer, bravely borne. She is greatly missed.
> Ken Plumtree, aged 83, from Scunthorpe was a life-long Iron fan and season ticket holder for many years, sadly dying in November.
> My uncle Alan Cooper was a massive Scunthorpe United fan and he would have been proud to see the Iron battle to the play-offs this season.
> Peter Chapman, aged 68 from Barrow-upon-Humber passed away in December 2016. Lifelong Scunny fan, unbelievably missed.
