Iron captain Stephen Dawson says he and the rest of the squad are fully aware of the significance of Saturday’s away encounter with Sheffield United.
However, despite the league positions which the two teams occupy, Dawson believes it’s vital to approach the game in the same manner as every other.
Dawson told The Iron PlayerHD: “We’ve got to remain focused. It’s an important game - I’m not going to play it down.
“In the context of where the league stands at the minute, it’s a very big game, which it also would have been one or two months ago.
“There are around 3,000 of our supporters going there, and they’ll have their usual backing.”
The Irishman knows the challenge which lies in wait at Bramall Lane, and stated there’s a strong belief in the dressing room of obtaining a positive result.
"All credit to them, they’ve done brilliant, and they’re top for a reason - they deserve to be there,” stated Dawson.
“We’re going to their backyard, but we can take great comfort from the way we played against them at our place.
“You can’t ask for a better game than Saturday for us to go out, enjoy and express ourselves.”
Nevertheless, the midfielder admits an improved display is needed this weekend, and he has every confidence the Iron will deliver it.
He was also keen to look at things with some perspective, stressing there’s still a fair chunk of the campaign left.
Dawson said: “I think it’s a very important time coming up.
“I’ll be the first to admit, we probably haven’t performed over the past couple of weeks to the level we have done previously.
“However, over the course of a season it’s going to happen. There’s many more twists and turns to come.
“We’ve got to get back to winning ways, and I’m under no illusions that the last couple of weeks haven’t been good enough.
“As a group of players we’ve got to put that right, and I believe we will do.”
