BUTROID AND KELSEY SIGN PROFESSIONAL TERMS

26 January 2017

The Iron are delighted to announce academy scholars Lewis Butroid and Adam Kelsey have signed their first professional contracts with the club.

Offered deals prior to Christmas, the duo have now put pen-to-paper.

Left-back Butroid has signed an 18-month deal with a further option in the club's favour, while goalkeeper Kelsey has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with a further 12 months in the club's favour.

Both deals acknowledge the remaining time on their existing scholarships.

The two players have been involved in the first team set-up over the course of the season, regularly training with the squad and both having matchday experiences including travelling with the team to away games.

Butroid (18) is coming to the end of the second year of his two-year apprenticeship, and made his professional debut in the Iron's 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough U21's in the Checkatrade Trophy group stage earlier in the season. He was also named as a substitute in the second round encounter against Morecambe.

Butroid has been with the club for almost ten years and is another local player to progress through the entire set-up.

Kelsey (17) signed on with the club at the midway through the 2015-16 season from Hull City. He has been named on the bench for games against Oldham Athletic in League One and Cambridge United in the Checkatrade Trophy.
