BIG MATCH PREVIEW: IRON v SWINDON TOWN

28 October 2016

Next up at Glanford Park for the Iron is Swindon Town, and the hosts will be heading into the match full of confidence after their 3-0 away win at Chesterfield.

That victory over the Spireites maintained United’s spot at the top of the League One table, and they’ll be looking for more of the same on Saturday.

The visitors will also be striving for all three points themselves though, after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Walsall last weekend.

Graham Alexander says Luke Williams is getting closer to a return after training this week. The Iron boss also revealed that Scott Wiseman will be assessed ahead of the game at Glanford Park.

Harry Toffolo and Jordan Clarke will both definitely miss out though, with Alexander stating they’re not ready to come back into the squad.

Things couldn’t have gone much better for Scunthorpe in their last clash with the Robins, as they romped to a 6-0 victory at Glanford Park back in March. It incidentally was Graham Alexander’s first home match in charge of the club.

First-half strikes from full-backs Conor Townsend and Jordan Clarke set the hosts on their way, before a Hakeeb Adelakun finish three minutes after the break all but sealed the three points.

Forward Tom Hopper soon added a fourth for the Iron, ahead of Paddy Madden getting in on the act. Hopper then rounded off a fabulous afternoon with his second and Scunthorpe’s sixth.

Striker Jonathan Obika has found the net twice so far this season for Swindon, and is sure to provide a threat up front for the visitors.

A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Obika moved to the County Ground in 2014 after over five years at White Hart Lane.

Since then his rate of scoring has been impressive, with the striker finding the back of the net 24 times in all competitions.
