Ross Joyce will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away League Two clash against Bradford City on Saturday.
The Cleveland-based official is in his his seventh campaign as an EFL referee, and will take charge of the Iron for the third time this season having officiated the club in pre-season against Hull City and then again a few weeks later against Sutton United in the league, both of which coming at the Sands Venue Stadium.
The game at Valley Parade will be his 34th of the season and his 11th in League Two.
He's taken charge of the Iron on 10 competitive occasions in total, with the last coming in August in the 1-1 home draw against Sutton United. Jake Scrimshaw got the Iron's goal, with three of the four cautions on the day given to Scunthorpe players (Scrimshaw, Lewis Thompson and Alex Perry). Previous to that, he took charge last in December 2020 when he oversaw the 2-0 home win over Leyton Orient. All five of the cautions on the day went to the away side. In the 10 previous games, he's shown 35 yellow cards and no reds.
Meanwhile, he's refereed on 13 previous occasions, with 11 of those coming at home. As a result, Saturday will be his 12th visit to the stadium. The last time he went was two months ago when they lost slenderly to promotion hopefuls Exeter City. Across the 13 games, he's shown 63 yellow cards and two reds.
Last season, he issued 130 yellow cards and four reds in 32 games. So far this season, in 33 games, he's shown 100 yellow cards and six reds.
On Saturday, Joyce will be assisted by Kevin Mulraine and Paul Stonier, while Matthew Smith has been appointed as the fourth official.
