Iron host successful Golf Day 2018

29 June 2018

The Iron held their annual Golf Day on Thursday, June 28th, 2018 at Gainsborough Golf Club.

The event teed off at 10am with a shotgun start. Chairman Peter Swann and his team of Will Swann, Cameron Burgess and Rory Watson began from Hole 1 following this, with the course taking around five hours to negotiate.

Other teams present included club sponsors and partners, while Rory McArdle and Conor Townsend also got involved as they competed in two of the sides.

In the end, it was a tightly contested event with the first three places separated by just one point.

Meanwhile, Iron vice-president Jason Oxenforth, of Trent Valley Electrical Services, also celebrated a hole-in-one on Hole 3.

Following the round of golf, all teams retreated to the Solheim Suite where a three-course carvery meal was served before the winners were announced.

Commercial Executive David Clay said: "Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2018 annual Golf Day a success. Gainsborough Golf Club hosted us for the third year running and it was the perfect setting for the day’s proceedings with fantastic hospitality served up."

He added: "Of course, it goes without saying our gratitude to all our sponsors who entered teams into the Golf Day, while we had further support via hole sponsorships. Your support and attendance is truly appreciated and we hope to see you all at next year’s event.”
