eSports team December update

27 December 2018

Scunthorpe United’s inaugural season in eSports has got off to an excellent start with the 11v11 pro clubs first team currently sitting in second place as the season enters the final stretch.

With only six games remaining, the Iron are one point off top spot and three ahead of 4th place, with both the title and promotion firmly within their grasp.

The Iron’s 11v11 pro clubs manager, Danny Pierce, said: “We started off a little shaky, but since changing our formation and tactics we have become a very strong team. I'm very proud of everyone in the team, we all have a great mentality and positive outlook on the season. We've kept a lot of clean sheets, have the best defensive record in the league and only lost four games all season, which I couldn't be more happy and proud about.

“We honestly believe we can win the title this season. It's a very close season, but if we keep consistent with our style of play, I definitely think we will win the league title, which will result in us competing in Championship North next season.”

If you want to get involved in representing the Scunthorpe United eSports team then head over to the dedicated social media pages (detailed below) and enquire with them about upcoming trials. A new Academy team is now up and running and there are opportunities for Iron fans to get involved, even if you haven’t played 11v11 pro clubs before.

Pierce continued: “We have a player called Ethan Short in our main team and it's his debut season, he had never played competitive pro clubs before joining us. He is brilliant and he's over the moon he's involved with Scunthorpe's eSports team.

“We currently have more Scunthorpe fans in the academy team and they are starting to shine as 11v11 pro clubs’ players. I hope eventually to be able to bring more players up to the first team from the academy as well, it's realistic that way, and gives them something to work towards.”

There will be further news of the Iron’s esports team expanding in the new year. You can follow all the latest news on the dedicated Scunthorpe United eSports Twitter and Facebook pages.
