The 25-year-old defender described Charlton away as the ‘perfect victory’ and believes it has given United confidence going into this weekend's game.

However, Wallace is expecting the Saddlers to fight and try everything to stay in League One.

He discussed how it felt to shut out Charlton and what to expect from Walsall in an interview with iFollow Iron

ON THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING A RUN OF FORM, STARTING WITH THE RESULT AT CHARLTON…
MW: That’s the main thing. We need to back it up and then back up the next result after that. We need to keep focusing on our performances, clean sheets and winning the games.

ON THE 1-0 WIN OVER CHARLTON ATHLETIC LAST WEEK…
MW: It was a massive result for us. It is really pleasing that we got a clean sheet as well. However, the most important thing was the three points. It felt like quite a while since we last had a win.

ON THE CONFIDENCE THAT THE CLEAN SHEET HAS GIVEN TO THE SQUAD…
MW: It was the perfect victory for us to get three points and a clean sheet. That has to give us confidence going into the next game.

ON HOW IT FELT TO FINALLY REAP THE REWARDS FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES IN THE UNLUCKY RESULTS LEADING UP TO CHARLTON…
MW: I think that it had been coming for a while. We weren’t ever doubting whether we could win the games but it just felt that at key moments we were letting ourselves down or things were going against us. It has been a while since we have had a win so that was a big one for us.

ON WHETHER FALLING OUT OF THE PLAY-OFFS INSPIRED THAT REACTION…
MW: When it happened it might have just hit people. Reality might have sunk in with some of the players as they realised that this was the end to their season and wondered what they were going to do about it.

ON WHAT SCUNTHORPE ARE EXPECTING FROM WALSALL…
MW: I don’t remember too much about the team (earlier in the season). I can remember it being a tough game. Obviously, we didn’t get the result that we wanted so hopefully we can put that right. They were hard to break down. They took their chance well too.

ON THE IMPACT THE FANS CAN HAVE IN THE UPCOMING FIXTURES…
MW: They will be massive. We have three home games so they will be a massive factor. You have seen what the fans can do to influence and apply pressure to decisions. Things like that can really help.
