Quintet of awards for Holmes

24 April 2018

On his achievement, the 23-year-old thanked his teammates and managerial staff for keeping faith in him.

He spoke to iFollow Iron about his awards, his season and shared his favourite strike of the campaign.

ON HIS FIVE END OF SEASON AWARDS…
DH: It is very good to even get one so to get five makes me very happy. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. I want to say thank you to them, and to both Graham Alexander and Nick Daws for putting their faith in me – I wanted to repay them.

ON HIS SEASON…
DH: I think I have done better than last season, but I still feel like I have got more to give. Hopefully over these next three games we can get enough points to get into the play-offs and see where that can take us. We just want to get promoted into the Championship and that is all we are focussing on at the moment.

ON THE FAITH HE HAS BEEN SHOWN…
DH: It is never nice seeing a manager lose his job, but I want to put my thanks out to Graham Alexander because he took a chance on me last year when no-one else would. I honestly don’t think I would be in the professional game if it wasn’t for him. I want to say thank you to him and for the opportunity he gave.

ON HIS FAVOURITE GOAL…
DH: I always say the Oldham one purely because it was a winner. We were obviously 2-0 up and they pulled it back to 2-2 and then I scored late on in the game. Or my first goal at Northampton. It was a great pass from Hakeeb (Adelakun), I brought it down well and chipped the goalkeeper.
