There will be a bucket collection in aid of the Mayor of North Lincolnshire’s Appeal Fund at Saturday’s home game against Portsmouth.
It will be for When You Wish Upon A Star, which is a small national charity dedicated to making dreams come true for children with life threatening and incurable illnesses.
The charity has been working in this area for 22 years and is known for its trips to Lapland and, in the last few years, the trip on board the Santa Express, providing magical Christmas trips for the children and their families.
However, the Charity needs support throughout the year for the many individual wishes it helps to make come true, whether that be a family holiday to Florida, meeting a favourite celebrity, a VIP limo trip and shopping trip or simply, whatever a very sick and deserving child “wishes” for!
In any one year around 50 to 60 children from North Lincolnshire will be granted a wish. Words cannot describe what it means to a child and their family when their wish is granted.
These wishes provide an opportunity for families to forget about hospital appointments and treatments for a short period, spend some quality family time together and create some very special and treasured memories. They can only make these dreams and wishes come true if the funds are available to them.
