LOAN WATCH

14 March 2017

Taking a look at the players currently on loan away from Glanford Park…

In this edition of Loan Watch, we’ll continue to round up the fortunes of the Scunthorpe players who are plying their trade away from the club.

We begin our round-up with Scott Laird, who recently netted his fourth goal for Walsall. Laird’s strike was decisive also, and decided the outcome of proceedings in the Saddlers’ narrow 1-0 home victory over Chesterfield. The 28-year-old has started three consecutive fixtures.

Midfielder Luke Williams has made two starts for Northampton Town following his return from a knee injury. The 23-year-old has made a significant impact too, with Justin Edinburgh’s side taking a maximum six points from six in matches against Charlton Athletic and AFC Wimbledon.

Another man making a return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines is Dom Vose. Like Williams, the Grimsby Town loanee has featured twice since his comeback, and started as the Mariners emerged 3-0 victors away at Leyton Orient.

Iron academy graduate Jack Dyche is continuing to impress for Ashton United. Dyche has found the net two more times in recent weeks, scoring for the Robins in their clashes with AFC Marine and Buxton.

Cheltenham Town’s Kyle Wootton has started two more matches since our last update and, despite not adding to his goalscoring tally, the 20-year-old remains an instrumental part of Gary Johnson’s plans.

Fellow frontman Jonathon Margetts’ loan spell at Lincoln City has got off to a positive start. The striker began league fixtures against Aldershot and Braintree, before making a second half substitute appearance in the Imps’ Emirates FA Cup quarter final clash with Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.

Staying in The National League, Rory Watson’s North Ferriby backed up their away win at Guiseley with another three points at home to Woking. However, they couldn’t manage to make it a hat-trick of victories at the weekend - going down 3-0 against Bromley.

Noel Burdett made an instant impact on his return to Frickley Athletic, with the youngster starting in a 1-0 victory over Matlock Town. Burdett has also played a part in encounters with Hednesford Town, Blyth Spartans and Warrington Town respectively.
